ON PURPOSE

from Journal of Transport and Health

Walking is good for our health. That said, how we walk makes a difference. Casual walking is less beneficial than walking with a purpose. People who walk with a purpose tend to walk faster and consider themselves healthier. The Ohio State University study of data from more than one hundred thousand people appears in the Journal of Transport and Health. The authors say walking for any duration for any purpose increased that healthy feeling, but simply adding ten minutes to the walk further increased that person’s health score. We’re not talking about speed-walking, rather an average of two point seven miles an hour. So, this is an easy way to add active minutes in our daily schedules.
