An anti-inflammatory diet could help us live longer. Anti-inflammatory foods, according to an article in the Journal of Internal Medicine, consist of fruits and vegetables, tea, coffee, whole grain bread, breakfast cereal, low-fat cheese, olive oil, nuts, chocolate and moderate amounts of red wine and beer. A study of nearly seventy thousand Swedish men and women between forty-five and eighty-three years old were followed for sixteen years. Those who most closely followed an anti-inflammatory diet had an eighteen percent lower risk of death from any cause when compared to those who did not closely follow the diet. The lead author, Dr. Joanna Kaluza notes that even partial adherence to an anti-inflammatory diet may be beneficial to health.
