POPULAR WEIGHT DRUG CAUTION

By May 21, 2025No Comments

With the growing popularity of weight loss medications called semaglutides, there is new caution advised by a leading health organization. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine wrote a letter, published in the journal JAMA Cardiology, that highlights limitations and risks of semaglutide. It notes that most people taking the medication will likely see their weight loss plateau and, for many, average body mass index will remain in the obese category. The letter confirms rapid weight gain once a person stops using semaglutide. By contrast, it says plant based dietary interventions have led to significant weight loss along with cardio improvement.
