Artificial intelligence seems everywhere, for good or not so good, but one negative issue I had not even considered is published in the journal Philosophy and Technology. It is called Deadbots or Griefbots—artificial intelligence that simulate the language patterns and personality traits of the dead. UK researchers say some companies already offer such services, but there is the potential to use deadbots to surreptitiously advertise products in the manner of a departed loved one or distress children by insisting a dead parent is still with them. That would be the equivalent of digitally being stalked by the dead. Even those who initially felt comfort from a deadbot say the daily interactions become an overwhelming emotional weight.
