Artificial intelligence or AI holds great promise, but a leading Canadian academic suggests the focus has shifted too far from Real or Natural Intelligence. Professor Mohammed Elmasry says while smart phones are getting smarter all the time, he argues for nurturing the human mind. He writes in his book, iMind: Artificial and Real Intelligence that the human mind is many times more powerful and will last much longer with the right care than our smartphones. Professor Elmasry says caring for our brain early in life, keeping it and our body healthy will help it to continue to develop. He suggests simple daily habits such as memory exercises and an afternoon nap instead of reaching for a smart phone.
