COFFEE ADDS GOOD YEARS

Drinking three to five cups of coffee a day is considered moderate and safe for most adults. A new review of scientific studies links the role of regular, moderate coffee consumption as part of a balanced diet—that we can add nearly two extra years of healthy aging to our lives. The review team in Portugal explored coffee’s connection to aging, including reducing instability of cell function, to provide a more accurate understanding of its effect on human health. The report shows coffee tends to benefit biological mechanism that naturally slow or fail as we get older. They also recommend taking another look at some medical recommendations that advise decreasing coffee consumption in older people. Details are in the journal Aging Research Reviews.
