Diet or exercise. Which is better to lose weight? Perhaps not surprising, it is both. New research from the University of Cambridge confirms each weight loss method works, but simultaneous improvements in both diet and physical activity were associated with the greatest reduction in body fat. Authors of the study in JAMA Network Open found that combining a better diet with more physical activity is an effective way to improve not just weight, but how much fat and where it is stored in the body. The combined diet and exercise is particularly effective at reducing the buildup of harmful fat around internal organs. Authors also suggest making smarter health choices more accessible for all.
