EASING CHEMOTHERAPY

By March 31, 2026No Comments

Chemotherapy is a fact of life for many cancer patients. A study from Canada found promise to reduce cancer-related fatigue in patients who took part in physical exercise programs the day before their chemo. Each participant in the study completed three behaviors—resting for forty minutes, moderate continuous aerobic exercise for thirty minutes and intervals of high intensity exercise. Following each condition, patients were monitored for five days after their chemotherapy. The study, in the journal Translational Exercise Biomedicine, noted that chemo-related fatigue varied by time of day. Authors say moderate to vigorous physical exercise the day before chemo appears safe and does not worsen chemo fatigue.
