EVENING EXERCISE

By July 2, 2024No Comments

It is well-known that moderate to vigorous physical activity improves glucose or blood sugar levels in sedentary and overweight adults. When this exercise occurs may be important. Spanish researchers wrote in the journal Obesity the most beneficial time is evening. The results of evening exercise provided overall lower blood sugar in the volunteers—not just the evening--compared to those who remained sedentary. Authors suggest that as medical care moves toward more individualized exercise programs for different chronic conditions, this study provides additional insights beyond just telling patients to move more, rather to prioritize afternoon and evening exercise for total glucose regulation.
