EXERCISE FOR DEPRESSED KIDS

By July 31, 2025No Comments

Depression and anxiety are among the most prevalent mental health issues affecting children and teens worldwide. In saying that, researchers at the University of South Australia offer a simple solution—exercise. Their review of studies involving thirty-eight thousand young people found those who took part in structured exercise programs reduced their depression and anxiety. Gentle, light intensity exercise is highly effective in reducing anxiety in children and teens. Symptoms of depression, along with ADHD, responded best to moderate intensity combined aerobic and resistance exercise. Authors say the findings present parents with a low-cost, non-invasive solution to combat poor mental health in kids.
