GET OFF YOUR COLON!

By September 30, 2025No Comments

If your doctor provided information about your risk of colorectal cancer, would you be more likely to schedule a colonoscopy? New research at Indiana University Health Systems suggests not. Not even knowing colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in this country. Not even knowing it is often preventable. The study, in Annals of Internal Medicine, found all of the participants signed up for colon cancer screening, but those who got information about their personal risk, were not more likely to get tested than those who got general information about colon cancer.. Authors say only about sixty percent of eligible adults in this country get screened, leading to a lot of unnecessary disease and death. That leads to the question, what will it take to get more of us off our…colons?
