Heart-healthy habits go far beyond helping our heart and cardiovascular system. A review of nearly five hundred studies shows benefits for brain function, vision, hearing and muscle strength—just about every part of our body from head to toe And more. The report in the Journal of the American Heart Association found heart-healthy lifestyle is associated with lower risk of several chronic diseases, including cancer, COPD, pneumonia, Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, fatty liver disease, type 2 diabetes, kidney disease and depression. Those with heart-healthy habits tended to tell of a better quality of life, including sleep habits. All of that can be summarized by saying what’s good for our heart is good for the rest of our being, too.
