A message to middle-aged women. To boost your quality of life as you age, stay or get active. The advice is not new, but the new study from Australia followed women for fifteen years along with their level of recommended physical activity. Using the accepted PCS score, participants who consistently met physical activity guidelines scored significantly higher than those not meeting the guidelines. Authors of the study, published in the journal PLOS One, say it is important for women to be active throughout middle-age to gain the most benefit for physical health later in life. Ideally, they recommend women increase their activity to meet guidelines by age fifty-five.
