MIND DIET

By April 23, 2026No Comments

If you see videos or photos of delicious looking foods, the common belief is that you’ll be encouraged to eat them. Easy to believe, but new research challenges that notion. It found people trying to resist their food cravings use social media featuring indulgent treats as a substitute for eating the real thing. Researchers at the University at Buffalo and State University of New York conducted three separate experiments involving more than eight hundred young adults. In one of the experiments, dieters spent a longer time viewing indulgent online foods compared to non-dieters. Later when given access to real chocolate, dieters consumed significantly less chocolate than non-dieters—suggesting much more self-control than non-dieters.
