NEWLY-NAMED DIET

By July 1, 2024No Comments

Among the dozens of named diets, there is one that researchers credit with a thirty percent lower risk of premature death for those following the diet most closely. Researchers at Harvard’s Chan School of Public Health named it the Planetary Health Diet, since it emphasizes a variety of minimally processed plant foods, but allows for modest consumption of meat and dairy foods. Their study in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition notes climate change has our planet on track for ecological disaster and our food system plays a major role. They suggest shifting how we eat can help slow the process of climate change. Participants in the study were followed for up to thirty-four years.
