PLANT DIET DIFFERENCES

By April 23, 2026No Comments

Plant-based diets are known to be beneficial in reducing risk of diseases, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Now, there is evidence that healthier plant-based diets may lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. The word “healthier” caught my eye. A study in the journal Neurology says a healthy plant-based diet prioritizes whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, legumes, tea and coffee. It says an unhealthy plant-based diet includes added sugars, fruit juices, refined grains and potatoes that tend to be eaten as fast foods.. The study followed more than ninety thousand middle-age adults for an average of eleven years. Overall, those eating the healthiest plant-based diet had a twelve percent lower risk of dementia, than those with the unhealthiest.
