RISK FROM CHRONIC INFLAMMATION

By July 1, 2024No Comments

Continuous or chronic signs of inflammation in our blood suggests risk of several serious health issues. A previous study links such inflammation over time to cognitive decline while a new study found mid-life chronic inflammation could result in diminished mobility twenty years later. The research, published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society, shows a link between sustained high inflammation and slower walking or mobility. Further, the association was evident even among the healthiest adults without common conditions such as obesity or diabetes. The authors say monitoring inflammation has the potential to be important for late-life health, similar to monitoring routine health markers blood pressure and blood sugar.
