By February 26, 2026No Comments

Part of the title of a study from Australia reads, Tiny Tummies, Big Questions. Questions about baby foods marketed in the United States. Researchers wrote in the journal Nutrients they found nearly three quarters of U.S. baby foods are ultra processed, containing highly processed ingredients and additives, such as flavor enhancers. The study focused on infant and toddler foods sold in the top ten American grocery stores. It found snack sized packaging was worst, with ninety-four percent of products defined at ultra processed. Authors say we’re seeing a growing body of evidence that certain additives may be harmful at a time when introducing babies to foods that are overly sweet or salty may affect their lifelong eating habits.
