We’re often advised by our healthcare providers to avoid excess salting our food because it may raise blood pressure. Here is another reason. Researchers at the Medical University of Vienna found a link between high salt consumption and stomach cancer. Their information came from Asian countries where high salt foods are popular and the link to stomach cancer has already been proven. But this study found for the first time a similar stomach cancer risk in Europe and other Western countries and it is affecting a growing number of young people. Authors wrote in the journal Gastric Cancer of their intention to raise awareness of the risk of extremely high salt consumption.
