TRAVEL THERAPY

By October 9, 2024No Comments

Laughter, it is said, is the best medicine. Here’s another, but newer adage, travel could be the best defense against aging. Researchers at Australia’s Edith Cowan University say while the process of aging can’t be stopped, it can be slowed. Travel, they say, could enhance physical and mental wellness through exposure to new places, activities and social interaction. Travel does not necessarily mean a long, expensive journey. It can also be just hiking, walking or cycling—activities that expend energy and boost metabolism. All of this is encompassed in the relatively new term, travel therapy, a college course I wish I had signed up for. The study appears in the peer-reviewed Journal of Travel Research.
